EAGLE LAKE — Nando Del Castillo is at home on his mother Janet's Eagle Lake farm. He has fond memories of childhood days spent playing around on the family's lakefront with Moose, a pet horse, and of spending time with his brother and sister.

Del Castillo, who graduated from Winter Haven High School in 1986, grew up breaking and training thoroughbreds — an integral aspect of the family business of training race horses.

During a recent interview at the family farm, Del Castillo appeared to be very much the cowboy as he petted and talked to Irish Eagle and Star Prediction, two of the Del Castillos' many horses.

He didn't seem to care if his boots or designer jeans got dirty while he worked with the horses his mother trains for racing.

Although the 41-year-old Del Castillo is a self-proclaimed jack-of-all-trades, not hesitating to do what's needed around his mother's farm, it isn't a surprise for one to learn he has spent much o
